NSF Wins Two SOFHT Awards
December 17, 2020
NSF’s food team received the prestigious awards from the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology (SOFHT) in a virtual ceremony last week.
The SOFHT Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in the food industry and its associated industries. The awards were judged by a panel of experienced food industry professionals from the Society’s membership.
“In this most challenging of years, both for our customers and colleagues, it is particularly humbling to receive this recognition from our industry,” said Rob Chester, Managing Director of NSF International’s UK Food Safety Operations. “Innovation often accelerates in times of crisis, and our teams have worked hard to revolutionise the way we work and support customers at top speed this year.”
Winner Best Food Technologist Award: Claire Goring
This award recognises exceptional people who work to provide safe food, produced in hygienic conditions for an outstanding or significant contribution in their field of work. “This year has been a tough one for us all, and a challenging one for a number of our clients who are having to adapt their systems at a rapid pace to be able to manage risks in a new way,” said Claire Goring, Supply Chain and Technical Consulting Manager. “I am passionate about ensuring that systems are practical and get to the heart of the issue, and build in all technical and operations aspects. With the help and support of the team around me, who deserve much of the credit, I believe we have a process that could revolutionise supplier risk management.”
Winner Best Training Company Award: NSF’s training team, led by Dawn Fassam
This award recognises companies who provide a consistently high calibre of training and/or introduce a novel training system or approach for training. “When I was assigned to the training division, I was committed to achieving both trainer of the year and training company of the year awards,” said Dawn Fassam, NSF International's Head of Technical Services and Training in the UK, who won the SOFHT Best Trainer Award in 2019. “With the amazing support of my team, notably Sophie Atlas who runs the everyday operations, we have done it. There are challenges ahead to rebuild as we move through COVID-19, but we are positive we can make it happen.”
